Maury Microwave Corporation Ships First Large-Signal Network Analyzer

Maury Microwave's MT4463A Large-Signal Network Analyzer is the first commercial product to be based on Agilent's large-signal network analysis (LSNA) technology as licensed to Maury.

Ontario, California, 21 April, 2004

Maury Microwave Corporation has shipped its first commercially built Large-Signal Network Analyzer from the factory in Ontario, California. The LSNA is headed for Italy where NMDG’s, Marc Vanden Bossche, will handle the installation and training. Additional LSNAs are scheduled to ship in the coming months. Maury Microwave and NMDG Engineering bvba, Belgium, have joined forces in taking the technology used to develop the LSNA to the next level. Maury Microwave is licensed by Agilent to commercialize, build, sell and support the LSNA. NMDG provides key resources for the development, support and measurement/consulting services of the LSNA product line.

“Maury Microwave and NMDG are dedicated to providing the next level of measurement capability to our device characterization customers. The LSNA technology is a perfect fit to our existing mechanical and solid state tuner lines,” said Marc Maury, President and CEO of Maury Microwave Corporation. “The ability of design and wafer fab facilities to greatly improve their product using waveform engineering will result in shorter time to market with better performing devices.”

In May 2003, Maury launched a joint-venture with NMDG Engineering to develop the large-signal network analysis (LSNA) technology. Under their agreement NMDG provides key resources for the development, education, support, and measrement/consulting services around the LSNA product line.

Large-signal network analysis provides complete and accurate characterization of non-linear devices under realistic operating conditions using one measurement setup with a single connection. These measurements reveal device characteristics which could not be seen before with commercially available equipment. The technology provides step-by-step analysis of the device behavior with increasing signal complexity, to qualify and improve transistor models and improve system level designs. The large-signal network analysis technology specifically addresses the non-linear large-signal measurement needs of the semiconductor R&D and manufacturing customers to characterize amplifiers, transistors and other active components in cell phones, base stations and aerospace/defense equipment.

Agilent developed the LSNA technology and has licensed Maury Microwave to commercialize, build, sell and support LSNA products. Agilent has also transferred support of existing LSNA customers to Maury Microwave.

In addition to its joint venture relationship with Maury Microwave, NMDG provides measurement and consulting services, system integration and software tools to accurately characterize the non-linear behavior of HF active components and link the measurements in simulation tools. These services and products address the needs of design and test engineers to bring high frequency active components profitably to market in a reduced time. more information on NMDG is available at http://www.nmdg.be.
