Maury Microwave and Modelithics Form Strategic Alliance

Maury Microwave Corporation announced today that it had signed an agreement with Modelithics, Inc. of Tampa, Florida, to advance the application of load/source pull measurement for more efficient non-linear device modeling and circuit design.

In large signal amplifier design, power output is a complex function of the input power level, terminating impedances and DC bias. Using a Maury load/source pull system and software allows the designer to obtain all of the critical device performance parameters, including: power output, transducer gain, power gain, efficiency, VSWR, input and output voltages and currents, and IMD/ACP. These measurements can be independently made at both the fundamental and harmonic impedances to determine optimal device performance.

Modelithics has created entire libraries of active and passive RF/microwave device models and characterization files for use with leading electronic design automation (EDA) software. These models accelerate RF/microwave design, reduce the time to market, and improve manufacturing reliability. The ability to combine the load/source pull data with non-linear transistor models developed for EDA software further enhances model verification and results in a more reliable and efficient design process.

Under the agreement, applications of load/source pull measurements will be advanced using the latest Maury Microwave Automated Tuner Systems (ATS). These stat-of-the-art test systems will allow Modelithics to create a wider variety of high-accuracy non-linear device models and load-pull data sets to accelerate RF and microwave designs.
